Company pledges to veterans, ‘I’ve Got Your Back,’ with $1 million sponsorship of Got Your 6

SAN DIEGO – March 25, 2013 – Wells Fargo announced today a $50,000 grant to non-profit National Veterans Transition Services’ (NVTSI), commonly known as REBOOT. NVTSI is dedicated to assisting veterans with adjusting to civilian life and securing meaningful employment.  As part of Wells Fargo’s Economic Opportunity Grant Program that supports workforce development and job creation, this grant along, with the $1 million sponsorship for Got Your 6, is an addition to Wells Fargo’s previous $35 million commitment to military members and veterans announced last November.

The $50,000 grant to REBOOT, demonstrates Wells Fargo’s continued commitment to providing support for San Diego’s growing population of returning veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq and helping successfully transition into the civilian workforce.   Last year, the company donated $100,000 to REBOOT, bringing the total to $150,000.  In addition to financial support, Wells Fargo’s recruiters regularly coach REBOOT graduates on interviews skills and conduct mock interviews. These coaching sessions help prepare graduates for job networking events with local companies looking to hire skilled veterans.

“We’re honored and grateful for Wells Fargo’s continued generosity and commitment to helping local veterans making the transition to the civilian work force,” said Maurice Wilson, president of REBOOT and a retired U.S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer. “It costs approximately $2,500 to take each individual through our program, and we do it without charge to the veterans. We need the help of companies like Wells Fargo to help give those who, with the right training and guidance, will continue to contribute to our economy and quality of life.”

In addition, Wells Fargo announced today a $1 million sponsorship of Got Your 6, the entertainment industry-backed campaign devoted to changing the conversation around military veterans in America such that veterans and military families are seen as civic assets and leaders who will reinvigorate our community.

This two-year commitment to the Got Your 6 campaign will kick off with the first ever “Veteran Hiring Week,” which is taking place March 25th – 29th and is presented by Wells Fargo. The series of initiatives are in Los Angeles and New York City and include two job fairs for veterans and their family members. These events will highlight the benefits of hiring veterans and their family members into the American workforce.

“Wells Fargo is proud to support our nation’s returning veterans and their families,” said Brian Lee, Wells Fargo’s North San Diego area president. “By supporting REBOOT and sponsoring the mission of Got Your 6, we are furthering our commitment – both locally and nationally – by making a significant impact on the lives of men and women who have served our country so well.”
