Drs. Lisa Delano-Wood and Dawn Schiehser are conducting a brain imaging and cognition research study to better understand mild-to-moderate traumatic brain injury (mTBI) in combat veterans. Study participants will be administered a cognitive assessment (e.g., memory and attention tests), as well as undergo a brain MRI and answer questions related to their current life circumstances, mood, and fatigue.
In order to better understand and help veterans with mTBI, they are seeking veterans age 21-50 who have been in combat, but who have not sustained neurotrauma or mTBI, so that they can compare their results to individuals with mTBI.
They are also recruiting veterans age 21-50 who have been diagnosed with mild or moderate closed head TBI from blast exposure (e.g. IED, landmine, rocket grenade), mechanical blunt force (e.g. motor vehicle accident), or both within the past 10 years.
If you meet either of the above criteria and do not have a history of seizure or other neurological disorder, current/active substance or alcohol abuse, significant psychiatric history (e.g. schizophrenia), and inability to undergo MRI scan (e.g. claustrophobia , shrapnel), please contact their study coordinator, Elisa Lanni at (858) 552-8585 ext. 2521 or 2667 for more information.
The study requires approximately 6-8 hours of your time, for which you will be compensated $150.
