Donations of food, clothing and money for area homeless veterans are being sought by the founder of an international relief organization now living in Pitt County. A day of support called the 2012 Stand-Down will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Eppes Community Center on West Fifth Street. The event is being coordinated by Sheila M. Parson, founder and CEO of the QSA Foundation, a nonprofit organization funded by its members and supporters to assist and encourage military families, homeless veterans and homeless children, as well as to help solve the issues of illiteracy and violence.
