DETROIT – December 17, 2014

Former U.S. military service members can start off the new year with a new outlook by participating in a three-week session designed to help prepare members of the armed services for life after the military.

Registration is now open for the Michigan REBOOT Workshop scheduled for Jan. 26-Feb. 13 at Piquette Square in Detroit. The workshop, often referred to as a “reverse boot camp,” is being offered through the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). It will provide extensive personalized training that addresses personal, social and professional aspects of the transition from military to civilian life, at no cost to the veterans who participate. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, however, participants are responsible for their own transportation.

Class size is limited to 25 participants and registration is available at MichiganVeterans.com/MIREBOOT. Piquette Square is located at 6221 Brush St., Detroit, 48202.

MVAA will host three additional Michigan REBOOT Workshops in 2015 and online registration is also open for these sessions:

  • March 16-April 3, 2015 (Women veterans only) – Southeast Michigan (location TBD)
  • April 27-May 15, 2015 – Lansing (location TBD)
  • June 1-19, 2015 – Grand Rapids (location TBD)

Developed by the National Veterans Transition Services, Inc., each REBOOT Workshop offers three weeks of education designed to enhance and build upon their training, experience and skills. While the workshops are geared primarily toward Post-9/11 veterans, they are open to all veterans regardless of service era or discharge status.
