Veterans will now be cared for in an environment that mimics all the comforts of home instead of a hospital-like nursing home, Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center officials said Thursday. The Tuscaloosa VA celebrated the opening of the Cottages at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center with a ribbon-cutting in front of an expansive, 25,000-square foot central community center. The community center includes a barber shop, a coffee shop that serves Starbucks coffee, a library and a game room devoted solely to playing Wii video games.
