Congresswoman Susan Davis:

In 2000, Susan A. Davis was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing California’s 49th Congressional District. The 49th Congressional District encompasses much of the heart of San Diego and includes the communities of downtown San Diego, La Jolla, Hillcrest, University Heights, Barrio Logan, Coronado, Imperial Beach, Del Cerro, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and Clairemont. Most recently she won re-election in 2014, defeating Republican opponent Larry Wilske.

Susan was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She grew up in Richmond, California. Susan graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in sociology. She then earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of North Carolina.

After graduation, Susan and her husband, Steve, were stationed in Japan with their two children, Jeffery and Benjamin, while Steve served as a doctor in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Susan and her family have lived in San Diego since 1972. She and Steve have been married for 33 years. They have one grandchild, Henry Sloane Davis.

In Congress, Susan is proud to serve on the House Armed Services Committee, the Education and the Workforce Committee, and the Veterans Affairs Committee. She is focusing on the issues of defense, education, environment, health care, and veterans affairs.
